Idea: Show user profiles in login screen on all devices
Hello Pandora,
I am here looking for solutions to this issue myself as it is highly annoying especially with the constant price increases each year. This year I almost cancelled my Pandora account and switched to YouTube Premium for our listening experiences.
The issue is this. We have a family plan with 6 members total in use, 2 adults and 4 kids. The Pandora app itself does not offer the ability to easily change "Profiles" like most other providers do Amazon, YouTube, Plex, Netflix, Hulu, ETC..
What happens to us is we stream from the living TV often as in the whole family has a habit of turning it on and turning on Pandora when doing chores ETC. With the way profiles work with Pandora on Amazon Fire Tv as well as Samsung's smart tv's it loads the same Pandora account no matter who's profile is selected on the device. This causes my Pandora to cut off at work, out driving around, or anywhere I am, every time someone else uses the TV in the living room.
The easiest solution I can see to this problem is for Pandora to show every user who belongs to the account at launch and allow the users to pick their profile. This again is a standard feature on just about every other app we share as a family. Asking people to log out of one profile and into another profile by email and password every time they access a shared device is behind our times. Alternatively you could allow at least 2 instances per user profile at a time, this however can be exploited and will be the reason why your engineers will reject it.
This problem becomes 10x worse when you include Amazon Echo's in your home as Amazon has their own issues with how the Pandora app is deployed there. It uses the parents account for all the kids profiles.
I look forward to hearing when Pandora is planning to deploy this feature as I feel it will greatly reduce headaches and support tickets based on this problem. At $200 a year now Pandora is one of my bigger expenses for entertainment. If this problem isn't resolved when our next renewal comes up we will be leaving. I have been a Pandora die hard for a long time and would hate to make this decision, however this issue makes the service almost unusable at times.
