Hi @jrichardspe! Thanks for posting!

The audio codec error message can be related to poor network speeds. If you're still receiving this error, let's cycle through your network connection.

Try these steps:

  1. Shut down your device completely;
  2. Unplug your modem and router, wait one full minute, and then plug them back in;
  3. Wait five more minutes to allow the modem and router to fully boot back up;
  4. Turn your device back on and try Pandora again.

Let me know how it goes.

I did that about ten times before posting the question.  Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the follow up @jrichardspe. Sorry about that.

Is your Sony connected through Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

I'm getting the same thing. Doesn't matter if I use wifi or Ethernet. Was working fine this morning then it just stopped.

I'm connected via WiFi... I've seen this error a couple of times, but mostly the Pandor App simply hangs. Would love to be able to restart the app without having to restart device. I can go to home, to Netflix, and back to Pandora and it's still hung. I do wonder if the root cause still isn't missing a missing codec?

Okay, reset the network...

Playing for a bit on the Sony App, and it just hung after completing "I
Want to Break Free" by Queen at about 12:08p PST ish...

Hi @michael-dana-pt! Sorry for the continued trouble. I'm happy to report your experience to our engineering team for further investigation.

  • Could you tell me the year and model number of your Sony Blu-ray Player?
  • Is your Blu-ray player connected by WiFi or Ethernet?
  • Does this happen when listening to a specific station(s), or when shuffling?

Thanks for the help!

Sony Model: BDP-BX350

I don't see a date... by the Serial No is 1216651 5A if that helps.

The unit is connected via WiFi

It looks like there's been some changes of late in this regard... There's a new "Loading..." dialog displayed between songs which take a while. The longest pauses are when the message dialog "Error: The device does not support the current audio codec" is displayed. Interestingly another song loads, and the message continues to display on top.
