Pandora Update: 1/18/23

Good news! We believe the issue with playback stopping on Roku has been resolved. This fix was released on Roku's side and should be available to all users now.

No additional steps are necessary to receive this update, however, if you continue to have trouble, it may be helpful to run through some Roku troubleshooting steps once more.

Since we believe this to be resolved, this thread will be closed to future comments. If you run into this issue again, please create a new post and reference this thread.

Pandora Update 1/10/23:

Hi all! Thanks for posting your experience to community - sorry for any trouble listening to Pandora with Roku

Our engineering team is aware and investigating. I've gone ahead and added everyone in this thread to our ticket.

 

In the meantime, you can disable the screensaver on your Roku device with the following steps.

From the Roku Settings > Theme > Additional settings > Screensaver start time > Disable screensaver.

We'll keep you posted with updates as they are made available to the community team. Thanks for your patience in the meantime!

I think I have the same issue, but not sure. I’ll play a station but only one song plays then no more after the Roku screensaver comes on.  When I look at the TV, it shows just 57 seconds of the song played and has paused, even though I just heard the whole song.

I’ve had a Roku for years for my LG TV and the Pandora app always had a screensaver that displayed the album art bouncing around slowly. In the last few weeks or so, this is not activating. So when I play a station, the Roku screensaver comes on instead, and Pandora stops playing after the first song finishes. When I look at the song, it shows that only 57 seconds of the song played, even though the whole song played. So I set the Roku screensaver to come on at 10 minutes instead of 1 minute and eventually the Pandora screensaver came on. But after a few minutes, it’s not coming on again. 

So…the 57 seconds thing above makes me think the Roku screensaver is doing something to the Pandora app. The Roku screensaver wasn’t activating because the Roku screensaver already had, but something is definitely jacked up.

I am having the same problem.  It recently started not because I purchased Pandora ULTRA.  It doesn't logically follow that it is ROKUs fault.  Hear me out.  If it was ROKUs fault then anything (platform app) playing would be interrupted.  For example if I were to watch Netflix, after one minute (or whatever time you have set for the screensaver) the movie would go out and the screensaver would come on.  I am trying to look up how to solve the problem, possibly on YouTube.  I will also call Pandora.

Same experience as @Flatfish @Margifromfla @wabbaloo @Digivon here with our Roku Ultra as well: about 1 minute after the first song of a station starts to play, the the Roku  screensaver (not Pandora's) will show - and when the song finishes, no more songs will play.  When using the remote arrow to jump out of the Roku screensaver, the Pause button and playback timeline are frozen.  The fast forward button is required to be pressed to play the next song - and this process starts over again: the Roku screensaver then shows again 1 minute later, the song plays and no others until after the fast-forward button is pressed.

Thank you so much for posting. The beta version is working perfectly. 😊  I discovered that the problem, at least in my case, is that the Pandora album cover screensaver never engages, so the Roku device doesn't detect an active screen and turns on its own screensaver, thereby cutting off playback.  I DM'd Pandora on Twitter about this glitch; hopefully, they update their app.  Thanks again for helping us out.

No problem 😁 Yes. Hopefully, they will fix the App. I played around with the app, and I went into the settings for the roku screensaver and extended the time to 5 minutes instead of one minute. The Pandora background album cover screensaver does, in fact, come on, but once the 5 minutes ended, the roku screensaver comes on over top of the Pandora screensaver...  basically overrides it, and then eventually, the music stops playing.

I think Roku, for some reason, is no longer detecting anything going on so it switches to screen saver. Mine was doing it at about three minutes so that must be how I have mine set. Been so long since I've had to do anything with it.

Having the *exact* same problem as BryaninBoise except that it has nothing to do with any screensaver.  Roku screensaver never appears but songs stop playing before finishing and screen is frozen.  Pandora screensaver works but seems unrelated to problem.  Must click fast-forward button to transition to next song.  Playing on Hisense Roku Smart TV with built in Pandora app.  Uninstalled and reinstalled Pandora app to no avail.  Problem began today on 01/10/2023.

Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Update: problem may very well be directly related to Roku screensaver. 

Disabled, and so far problem resolved.
