Yamaha Device: "Access Error" Message

YamahaMCuser

I'm experiencing  the same "Access Error" across all (3) of my Yamaha devices all of a sudden - I can play Pandora fine on my PC through web page, and on my phone with Pandora app.  This just started happening for no apparent reason.  Network access from my Yamaha's is fine as they can play Internet radio stations just fine. I can't even log back in/or out - the Yamaha just refuses to even try to connect with "Access error" . I find it difficult to believe all three of my Yamaha Musiccast devices failed at the same time, this must have something to do with my Pandora account?

Yamaha did an update of a firmware update that fixed this for me. So be sure your firmware is set to auto update if you Yamaha is on the internet or, you can also get it from Yamaha (USA) web site and do it yourself. They have instructions there. But most people do it auto and it just happens. In this case, the main one messed up some stuff and, a week or so later, they fed a v.1 of the update and it corrected a bunch of things.

Hi @MPeter3628

You're all set to go. This may take a little bit of time to take affect, so please be patient. I'd also recommend power cycling your Yamaha by unplugging it for at least 5 minutes. Hope that helps!

Thanks! I just realized I have another account under a different email. Can you remove the Yamaha receiver from the account with the email address (email), please?

Hi @MPeter3628

I checked the other account, and there were no devices associated with it. Do you use this account primarily on web?

Yes. All of a sudden last week I'm getting this "access error" on my Yamaha R-N301. I power cycled the receiver and did a factory reset but still am getting this error.

After a factory reset is super odd, @MPeter3628. That was going to be my next suggestion.

Sometimes order can matter, maybe try the factory reset first, then power cycle after - if you haven't already done that the first go around.

Yes I did it in that order. Yamaha says when the factory reset is performed, and then you select Pandora, it will prompt you to login, but that's not happening, just the access error.

Hi @MPeter3628 Checking in to see if you've had any luck, or the same trouble. Did Yamaha support have another steps that may have helpful?

Hello, still having the same issue.  When I do a factory reset, it doesn't prompt me to log in again, which doesn't make sense if everything is reset.

Agreed, @MPeter3628

Unfortunately, I have limited insight into Yamaha devices on my end. Since a factory reset appears to be unsuccessful, I don't have any other troubleshooting suggestions at this time. I'd reach out to Yamaha support for any other steps they may have.

Hi @Mappy

Welcome to community!

I checked the Pandora account associated with your community profile and I don't see any devices connected to the account. Where you able to remove the devices from your end?

If you're still having trouble, I would recommend power cycling your Yamaha for at least 5 minutes. If you're still having the same issue after power cycling, then I recommend a factory reset of your Yamaha.

hello,

i am having a similar seeming issue with my Yamaha RXv673 receiver.  I have started receiving an "Access Error" message and can't figure out what the issue is.  I power cycled and also did a factory reset.  I went back and updated the IP address after trying the new IP address the factory reset generated.  The original IP works except for still getting the "access error" message from pandora (both on the AV receiver app as well as the actual receiver.

Hi @cseki

Welcome to community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble playing Pandora on your Yamaha. Based on your post, it sounds like you've tried all the recommended troubleshooting I would have advised.

Since you're still receiving the Access Error message, I'm happy to report your experience to our engineering team for further investigation. If you haven't already, it may be helpful to reach out to Yamaha Support for any other additional troubleshooting steps that they may be aware for your specific model.

Thanks for posting your experience for your patience in the meantime.
