Album Recommendations per Day

Rxnin
Up & Coming Artist

Hello Pandora listeners! Inspired by my coworker, I've decided to at least try to listen to an album a day. I started two days ago with Igor by Tyler, the Creator, the next day I chose Call Me If You Get Lost, by Tyler, the Creator, and right now I'm listening to the Forever Story by JID. If anyone has any recommendations in the Alt Rap genre I'd greatly appreciate it. In the comments I'll be updating and rating the albums I've listened to thus far.

Didn't finish the Forever Story because it just didn't hit for me. Listened to Chromakopia throughout all of today, and also just finished listening to Dicaprio 2.

Chromakopia- 10/10

Amazing album I loved it so much

Dicaprio 2- 8.5/10

Would've been a 9 but DJ Drama yapping is so annoying to me. Tune in tmrw afternoon for whatever I decide to listen to next.

Also, I might listen to Die Lit by Carti just to see if I like it.

Hi, @Rxnin. 👋

Nice thread you've started here. I like Tyler the Creator's music.

What about Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper?

I'd also like to recommend Vince Staples by Vince Staples.

Let me know if these fit the genre you like, and I'll see if I can come up with more recs. 🎧

Much appreciated for the recs and response! I just started Vince Staples and will rate it at the end of the day.

(P.S) listened to die lit thought it was kinda decent but not the greatest

6/10

Screw it I'll go ahead and rate it now. Just finished it and I thought it was really good, but it was way too short. I thought it would take longer to finish but a couple of the songs were only like a minute long. But, overall a great album besides it's length, so I'll give it an 8/10. Because this album was short, I'll try to get in Mm... Food today but I don't know if I'll be able to.

Finished Mm... Food and it was a really good album. The only flaw it has is that Doom really takes the Dr. Doom persona pretty far. The constant weird voice overs weren't my favorite. BUT the songs were amazing. So in total I'll give it a 8/10. Gonna see if I can get to 2014 Forest Hill Drive before I fall asleep but prolly not since I'm a sweepy wittle boy :3 Also,  I may not listen to coloring book since chance isn't my favorite tbh

I have to agree the album is on the shorter side. I like the album and didn't have any skips when I played it for the first time. Thanks for taking a listen, @Rxnin. Some albums are like 18+ songs these days. Do you like longer albums?

I mean it really depends on the quality of the music. Vince Staples was an awesome album so I didn't mind it's length because the quality was good. But if it's like NBA Youngboy who cranks out tons of albums but all the songs aren't the best then I prefer shorter ones. A long album full of good songs would obviously be the best, but besides Mm... food I haven't come across an album more than 10-15 songs that are all really good. Didn't get to an album today because I was really busy, but over the course of the day I listened to a lot of Odd Future so I may have accidentally completed the first compilation or whatever it's called. I'll try to get an extra one in tomorrow but school has been really busy recently. On the topic of short albums, this edit is me seeing the length of Skins by X and deciding to listen to it.

I'm gonna go ahead and just rate skins because I took a break for Halloween. It was a really good album even though it was incredibly short. I really like X doing rock. It sounds really raw and emotional. I'll rate it a 6/10 because of its length because I'm considering the fact it was posthumous.

Took a huge break for school lol. So sorry, but there are like 2 ppl who read this thread anyway. Today I'm currently listening to the Book of Spiral by 21 Savage. Trying to change it up a lil. First song is pretty good, I like the horn sounds (or whatever you'd call them). I do like Nudy, but You Ain't Hard is really forgettable. No insane bars or specific flows I really like. Kinda catchy I guess. I do like the way that 21 features artists who don't seem to be very recognized on Down bad. Decent song. And then YSL (free them fr) come on Emergency. Favorite song of this album tbh. Really catchy and is super flowy. Because it was incredibly short, I'm gonna start listening to Sing Me a Lullaby, my Sweet Temptation. Genesis is kinda goofy because I can't tell what song it samples, but I'm pretty sure it's Nintendo. Skipped it. Matte black is a pretty good song. I don't rly like the vocals in the beginning but Ruby with autotune sounds really good to me. **ahem** Your Culture is one of my favorite songs if not my favorite song in the album. Cool beat and they sound really good on this type. Skipped 1000 blunts, idk why I just didn't really like the melody. To happy for anyone in G59 lol. Really like In Constant Sorrow it has an amazing beat that really compliments Scrims voice. And Ruby sounds good because he sounds good on everything tbh. If someone can reply to this and tell me what Escape From Babylon samples I'd really appreciate it. Skipped that because the melody is just too happy lol. Ashes of Luxury was again too happy. Resistance is Useless is an amazing song. One of my favorite suicideboys songs ever. Eulogy was pretty good. Drums sounded very boom bap. NMWDIGI is too happy. Hate to say it. I'm getting tired so I'll go ahead and wrap it up. Total score is a 6/10. Good album with some hidden gems, but it's just too happy for me.

We are back. I am going to rereview MM...FOOD. We start off with beef rapp, an interesting beat contrasted to the fun sounding skit/snippet in the beginning. I think the contrast does add to the style though of Doom's style. It's a relief when the verse finally comes in as the instrumental kind of got boring. As per usual in an MF Doom album the verses resemble spoken word and have incredible lyricism. The next song, Hoɛ Cakes has to be one of my favorite songs on the album. I think the way the Supersonic sample gets cut off and it's usually faster than Dooms flow is pretty funny. Great beat and absolutely amazing use of sampling! Potholderz wasn't my favorite and i really don't know why haha. BUT, the next song is most definitely the best off the album. One beer. Great track, good flow, awesome sample. There's nothing I can say that makes it seem bad. As i am going into more detail about each song, I'll split this review up between a couple days.

It's gonna take a while to review the next songs it's EOC/Finals week for me. Also, feedback on these posts is much appreciated such as your own thoughts about my ratings or another album you'd like me to rate. Finally, summer is coming up so I'll be posting some more! Thanks for reading! 🤠

Finally back! No comment on my finals except for the fact that they honestly seemed pretty easy. Let's hope my grade reflects that haha. Getting right into it, Deep Fried Frenz is the longest song on the album and it kind of shows. The rhymes at a point kind of start to blend together, but the skit/ except is my favorite so far. The instrumental behind the song is one of my favorites so far. Next, Poo Putt Platter starts off with a very westerny saloon kind of vibe. Once I checked the song length I was very happy because this instrumental isn't my favorite. Next, we've got Fillet-O-Rapper. I really like this instrumental and the skit is really funny. The lady listening off the soul foods gets me all the time. Next, we've got Gumbo. Another super short song and the whistle in the background sounds kinda weird to me. Next, we've got Fig Leaf Bicarbonate. Finally a normal length song! The instrumental is my favorite so far but the background noise is kinda ruining it. Next, we've got Kon Karne. A weird instrumental that is carried by Dooms rhymes. Not many other comments on this and I honestly skipped it in the full listen thru. Next, we've got Guinnessez. Really cool sounding instrumental and I like the little guitar lick in the background. Everyone drops some really good bars in this song. That's it for today and I'll get back with the final couple songs later!

Hi @Rxnin , not sure what you think of music on other languages but I was listening this morning to this album: Right Place, Wrong Person by RM.

RM is a member of the K-pop group BTS, but he also has releases made in solitary and in general his solo albums are mostly chill hip-hop and rap, with some R&B and jazz influence.

Not sure if it would be on the vibe you are looking for but wanted to leave the suggestion in case you'd like to check it out.
