Resolved 6/2/24: DirecTV: Playback skips to next track after approximately 1-2 minutes

For three weeks now Pandora stops mid way in every song and switches to the next song. Its been three weeks now. No help from Pandora. They blame the TV manufacturing or the cable company.

I'm not sure how it worked-- I'm a low tech old guy. But all I did was:  go to Settings, then Device Mgt, then Info&Test, then hit Run System Test. It takes a few min. to run the test, but upon completion, I got back in to Pandora & it worked fine-- no song skipping. Amen!      After 2 months with no help at all from the horrible DirecTV!!!   Good luck & party on!!

Thanks man I really appreciate that I can’t run the test successfully right now until my Internet gets reconnected come on Centurylink don’t you think five weeks is bad enough but I will certainly do it as soon as I get connected back up again thanks a lot man

Directv did a download of new software. Now pandora doesn't work at all.  Our pandora tech folks not only are inept but can't even talk with Directv.  Waste of time and money.

Yes, you would think that the 2 large companies could put a few of their techies together & fix this within a couple of days, not months!  Both are a disappointment, but DirecTV has terrible customer service and the price keeps increasing!  You may need a new DVR. Good luck

Hi everyone!

A big thank you to everyone for your patience while the issue with tracks skip on DirecTV was investigated. DirecTV's roll out to fix all affected receivers is now complete. We've received confirmation from listeners that this roll out has resolved this issue. 

If you continue to have trouble with this specific issue of tracks skipping, please create a new post with your receiver model and version.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience as we worked with DirecTV to resolve the issue causing tracks to skip after a minute or two.


DirecTV has started rolling out a fix to all affected receivers. Since this is a phased release, not all receivers will receive the fix right away. If you don’t see an update yet, please hang tight — it’s on the way.

If you have any questions regarding the update process, please reach out to DirecTV Support.

We appreciate your continued patience as the update reaches all listeners.

Hi all! Thanks for your continued patience. We're working with our partners at DirecTV on a resolution. While we don't have a timeline yet, keep an eye out for future software updates from DirecTV, as that is how this issue will be addressed.

Thank you all for posting your experience with DirecTV.

Since there have been no changes to the Pandora app for DirecTV recently our teams are investigating the cause for songs skipping to the next song part way through.

To help in our investigation - if you already haven't - please let us know your:

  • DirecTV Receiver Model: (Example: Model: Genie HR54/500)
  • DirecTV software version: (Example: Software version OX1bdd)

You can find your receiver make and model in Settings > Device Management > Info & Test
