Hmmm it has been years since I listened to brutal death metal, and even when I listened to death metal on a regular basis I used to go more on the melodic side than the brutal one. When I was in highschool I always listened to Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth (although this is more viking than melodic), Children Of Bodom, and Dark Tranquillity. And for the brutal death metal, maybe Disgorge, Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus. I still like them but I haven't really listened to the second ones in literal years. If you ask me for deathcore, I will always recommend The Agonist. It has been always one of my favorites. Lately, on the metal scene, I have been more on black metal like Mayhem, Gorgoroth or Bathory although they are kind of popular. Maybe also Hellhammer, however I just discovered them so I haven't decided to include them on my playlists.
